Amerisource Makes 2002 Houston 100 List
Release date: September 6, 2002
Houston, TX – For the third consecutive year, Amerisource announces that it has been recognized as one of Houston’s 100 fastest growing private companies by the University of Houston Small Business Development Center for fiscal year 2001.
The Houston 100 rankings were announced today at a celebratory luncheon at the George R. Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston. Over 1,000 people in the Houston area business community attended the luncheon, which was sponsored by Comerica Bank, Southwestern Bell, the Houston Business Journal and the Greater Houston Partnership.
Amerisource was honored for several other awards at the luncheon as well, including #1 for highest revenue growth, as well as the Southwestern Bell Award for revenue growth and jobs creation. Amerisource posted revenues in excess of $102 million in fiscal year 2001 and revenue growth of 88 percent (88%) over the three-year period.
The Houston 100 is an annual index created and released by the University of Houston Small Business Development Center and published by the Houston Business Journal. The index celebrates the 100 fastest growing privately held businesses in the greater Houston area, as measured by revenue growth over the previous three-year period.
Michael Monk, Managing Director, commented “We had a great time at the celebration today. We really cleaned up — I don’t know what to do with all these plaques! This is fantastic for our firm. This is the third year in a row we’ve made this list and it’s just great for company morale. Unfortunately, our revenues are too high for us to qualify for next year’s list, so it’s sort of bittersweet for us — I guess you could say ‘we outgrew the list’. Mr. Monk added “This is an excellent forum — the underwriters and sponsors do a great job to promote small business in Houston.”
